Julien has been an integral part of the Australian jazz scene since the early 90s having appeared onstage and on recordings with many of the countries leading musicians. For many years he was a member of the Black Arm Band and the Australian Art Orchestra as well as being a founding member of bands including SNAG, Ishish and Festa, and an infiltrator of groups including Los Cabrones, Rumberos, 12ToneDiamonds and Virus. He has released a dozen albums featuring his original compositions with groups including STOCK, The Julien Wilson Trio, Assumptions and This World. In 2022 he released his first two solo albums, Meditations and Mutations, and 2023 has seen him playing solo shows interstate and working with a wide variety of groups in Melbourne including exciting new co-operitave original music projects with Ray Pereira & Peggy Lee.
