Melbourne-based saxophonist and band leader Jon Magill has been playing woodwind instruments of various shapes and sizes for longer than he cares to admit. Classically trained, and with a passion for jazz, improvised music, and arranging, Jon has spent many years performing and leading various bands around Melbourne and is a regular at jazz festivals held throughout Victoria. Jon Magill’s GrooVe Congress is one of these groups and was formed in 2017 with the idea of performing more contemporary-based music. The Congress covers tunes by Snarky Puppy, Bob Reynolds, Pat Metheny, and Lyle Mays to name a few, and features a stellar 11-piece line-up that will knock your socks off!
