Come celebrate Cajun Mardi Gras with Melbourne’s own ‘Johnny Can’t Dance’ Cajun Band. One of Australia’s leading Cajun/Creole music ensembles and rocking Zydeco outfit "Gumbo Express" from the Victorian Central Highlands, both dedicated practitioners of the traditional dance music of Rural Southwest Louisiana and from performing live for your listening and dancing pleasure!
Throughout ‘Cajun Country’ in rural Southwest Louisiana and on the streets of New Orleans they celebrate the annual Catholic festival of Mardi Gras ‘Fat Tuesday’ the day before the start of Lent, a celebration of food, music and dance with beaded parades, costumed chicken runs, marching bands, dance bands, King cake and communal Gumbo’s...This year we come together to party for Mardi Gras on the Sunday before Fat Tuesday at Coburg RSL, Sydney Rd Coburg which is one the venues most like a traditional Cajun dance hall we that play!
