Jesse Lawrance

The Songwriter’s Table is back at the Lomond Hotel for another evening of songs and stories, hosted by Castlemaine songwriter Jesse Lawrance and his band. Each month, a guest artist joins Jesse around the table—literally—for a night of shared music and conversation, live from the Lomond stage.

Cat Moser

This month’s guest is Cat Moser—a long-time contributor to the folk scene in Victoria and beyond. Whether playing fiddle, banjo, or singing in one of her many ensembles (Cat & Clint, Honeyfields, Dev’lish Mary and more), Cat has a way of keeping songs alive—old ones, new ones, and especially those passed from player to player. She’s a skilled interpreter of traditional tunes and a generous collaborator with a deep feel for the music.

For this show, the lineup shifts slightly—Steve Temple is back on bass, Ben Franz will be on pedal steel, and Honeytree will be back in the mix.

Come for the songs, stay for the stories. It’s the kind of night that makes the Lomond what it is.

The Tipplers

Gaudy, bawdy and borderline boozy, the Tipplers are a Melbourne-based Irish band consisting of guitar, mandolin, fiddle and cello. Performing a mix of old Irish traditional folk tunes and some newer favourites they are sure to get tongues tippling and toes tapping. The band provides a platform to present a musical culture spanning centuries.

Since forming in mid 2013 the Tipplers have been playing consistently around Melbourne. They’ve played numerous gigs locally, played festivals around Melbourne and regional Victoria and have been featured in an advertising campaign for Black Swan dips.

The music is shrouded in sorrow, sentiment and hilarity, with a reproachful gaze at melancholy and a watchful eye on optimism, much like Mother Ireland herself. Upbeat and down and dirty this is one Irish outfit that won't leave you feeling green.
