Jesse Lawrance
Join us for the second instalment of the Songwriter’s Table, hosted by Castlemaine-based songwriter Jesse Lawrance and his band. Each month Jesse gathers a group of friends around the table—quite literally—for an intimate evening of music, stories and songs, shared live from the stage of the Lomond Hotel.
Following a wonderful first night, this month’s guest is Luke Watt—a folk/blues singer-songwriter and formidable guitarist. With influences like Chris Whitley, Richard Thompson and Kelly Joe Phelps, Luke’s songs weave their way through stories of small-town mistakes, wandering rebels and the push and pull of fate. His recent self-titled album, produced by ARIA Award winner Jeff Lang, is a vivid collection of songs captured live with his trio.
The evening will be filled with music played in the moment and stories that draw you in as Jesse and the band dive into songs from his debut album Some Little Town, along with newer material and a selection of Luke’s gems. With Pete Fidler on dobro and Steve Temple on bass, the table is sure to be full!
Come for the songs, stay for the stories. It’s the kind of night that makes the Lomond what it is.

The Tipplers
Gaudy, bawdy and borderline boozy, the Tipplers are a Melbourne-based Irish band consisting of guitar, mandolin, fiddle and cello. Performing a mix of old Irish traditional folk tunes and some newer favourites they are sure to get tongues tippling and toes tapping. The band provides a platform to present a musical culture spanning centuries.
Since forming in mid 2013 the Tipplers have been playing consistently around Melbourne. They’ve played numerous gigs locally, played festivals around Melbourne and regional Victoria and have been featured in an advertising campaign for Black Swan dips.
The music is shrouded in sorrow, sentiment and hilarity, with a reproachful gaze at melancholy and a watchful eye on optimism, much like Mother Ireland herself. Upbeat and down and dirty this is one Irish outfit that won't leave you feeling green.
