Hailing from Melbourne, Jaron Jay is a dedicated songwriter, performer, and
musician who has spent a big part of his life refining his craft. He draws
inspiration from legendary artists such as Prince, Michael Jackson, and Stevie
Wonder, each of whom has had a profound impact on his musical style. He
draws inspiration from Prince's unmistakable falsetto and his fearless attitude,
which has encouraged him to take risks and push the boundaries of his own
vocal range. Michael Jackson's influence can be heard in Jaron's meticulous
attention to production details and the infectious energy he brings to his vocal
performances. Stevie Wonder's songwriting has inspired Jaron to craft
meaningful melodies and memorable lyrics that resonate with listeners.
Incorporating these elements into his own music and blending them with his
unique style that spans rock, soul, jazz, funk, and pop, Jaron has developed a
unique sound that showcases his versatility as an artist. His passion for music
which shines through in each piece he creates, and his dedication to the craft
translates to an unforgettably-energetic live show.
Supporting Jaron Jay is enchanting songwriter and vocalist, Jamie Lena, who
explores the intimacy of living; love and heartbreak. Jamie’s honest melodies
wade us into the intricate complexities of the human experience, stirring a
deeply introspective and relational experience. With plenty of groove and soul,
Jamie draws inspiration from RnB/neo soul wonders such as Lianne La Havas
and Lauryn Hill and leaves reminiscent tastes of Joni Mitchell, Erykah Badu and
Carole King. Jamie’s has been acknowledged for her soul stirring music, with
the opportunity to play at WOMADelaide 2024, and recognition in APRA’s top 10
Regional Charts for her recent single, “Dissolve”.
Second support for the night is Isaac McKenzie. With his recent release of
“Arrogant and Amplified” in late 2023, Isaac is excited to bring his band back to
the Naarm scene for a live show! Dabbling in songwriting as a teenager, his
tastes journeyed through the well-trodden path of pop to rock, and eventually
to the deep and intricate world of jazz. Studying at University under
Melbourne’s most acclaimed Jazz guitarists, Isaac was thrown into a world of
complex harmony of which he would come to twist and turn at will. A fiercely
talented guitarist with a knack for cheeky lyricism, Isaac creates impossibly
intricate yet incredibly accessible songs, all pulled together with his nonchalant
and self-effacing attitude of “kinda different, kinda dumb”. With some new
music on the way, Isaac is excited for what he does best — play it live!
