Through writing and performing original music since childhood, Phemister has developed a distinctive fingerpicked voice on the guitar, and a passion for well crafted lyrics. Musically, he draws on the beautiful and melancholic musings of Elliott Smith & Leonard Cohen; through to the twisted poetry and broiling emotions of Nick Cave, Fiona Apple & Gareth Liddiard. Snatching at any and everything they can, Phemister’s songs tend to find themselves in a surprisingly cohesive niche of their own, somewhere vaguely between Folk and Art Rock.
