Hard No is a Naarm/Melbourne based band that make music to kill boys to. Composed of women and non-gender conforming members, the band is passionate about centering marginalised voices. Composed of drummer Rania Pappas, bassist Mazzi-Rose Esparon, guitarist Elly Halloran and lead vocalist Cece Tsan, the band formed 2 years after graduating from high school. All participating in the school’s band and orchestra programs, the members continued their love for music and performing, each bringing unique musical influences to Hard No’s music. The band combines punk instrumentation with pop melodies and feminist lyrics about resisting enforced silence and marginalisation, not with a soft yes, but with a Hard No.
