Halfway

Halfway were formed in Brisbane in 2000. They have released eight albums and have developed their own unique brand of Australian storytelling, combining indie rock, folk and country music.

The band's career has been built around heavily themed albums, the two most recent being ‘On the Ghostline, with Hands of Lightning’ (Aug 2022) and ‘Restless Dream’ (Sept 2021), both released through ABC Music Australia.

‘On the Ghostline, with Hands of Lightning’ is an album about repurposed and imagined memories and how we use them to get through the daily grind.

‘Restless Dream’ is a collaboration with Indigenous Elder Bobby Weatherall. It is based on his 30 years of work in repatriating indigenous remains and artefacts from around the world.

Both albums have received widespread critical acclaim. ‘Restless Dream’ was nominated at the 2021 ARIA Awards for ‘Best World Music Album’.

The band are looking forward to playing shows with Peter Milton Walsh and The Apartments in 2023.

The Apartments

Peter Milton Walsh is a mythic figure in Australian music, an elusive émigré whose distinguished catalogue is a treasure trove of gorgeous, literate pop songs hailed as in the line of Burt Bacharach, Jacques Brel and Serge Gainsbourg.

Walsh’s story begins in 1978 Brisbane, when he formed The Apartments (and, briefly, joined The Go-Betweens). Signing with legendary UK label Rough Trade, The Apartments won devoted followings in Europe and America. While based in Sydney since the 2000s, The Apartments line-up changes with the territory. Long-term members are based in the UK, France and Australia, with the one constant, Peter Milton Walsh.

2022 saw Peter Milton Walsh touring France, Italy and England as The Apartments with a European line-up or in solo mode to support the 2020 album, In and Out of The Light

Shows by Peter Milton Walsh and The Apartments have enraptured audiences in cities far and wide—San Francisco, London, Milan, Cologne, Paris and Sydney and next up are Melbourne/Brisbane/Sydney with Brisbane’s Halfway.
