This April, South Sudanese legend and Melbourne’s newest superstar, the one and only GORDON KOANG, launches his latest single and his first since arriving in Australia.
Appearing on 12” vinyl through the Music In Exile label, ‘Mal Mi Goa’ sees Koang in collaboration with local Melbourne musicians and producers to create an upbeat, infectious track of danceable rhythm and catchy hooks.
It is a song calling for peace in his homeland, sung in his native Neur language and urging those in South Sudan to find a new way forward without violence. Koang arrived in Australia four years ago, seeking refuge from the civil war in Sudan, and he still awaits his permanent residency and the day he will be able to reunite with his wife and children here in Australia.
Music In Exile is a not-for-profit initiative aimed at showcasing the incredible wealth of talent that exists in Australia’s refugee and migrant communities. Come along and show your support for such an incredible artist and to share in Gordon’s search for refuge and acceptance.
