Gene Tree began as a conversation between dear friend, scientist and bio-informaticist Dr Anna Syme in 2015. Inspired by climate science and DNA modelling, the music takes stories from our genetic maps of adaption, resilience, extinction; the genetic story of the peppered moth and the migratory monarch butterfly; and, musical interpretations of DNA and its patterns, replications, faults, transcriptions into mRNA, “the incessant, relentless rhythms of our biology - cells duplicating, dying, birthing”
