Dragonfru?t ~ double single launch / Sienna Thornton / FHHD

Dragonfru?t is the brainchild of musicians Theo Carbo and Robbie Divine. With an ethos equal parts mischief and devotion, they channel the rich histories of sacred music, only to warp them into something wild, ecstatic, and explosively modern.

Sienna Thornton

Sienna Thornton and ensemble will perform songs from their stunning recently released album 'Birding Out'

“As with a lot of this album I let this song come intuitively, starting with the chord structure which reminded me of patterns in a maze.

Within this I remembered the story of the minotaur from Greek mythology - greed, suffering, nature and nurture, intergenerational threads and the line of twine. This led to linear and non-linear time perception, life-line, body and mind, cycles and spirals, ecosystems and resources - what happens when the extraction of the final harvest has fed our unending hunger.

I found myself trying to find a balance between a desire for certainty, concreteness, and what it feels like to embrace a less tangible, intuitive experience. I tried to imagine where each source of knowing comes from.”

FHHD

FFHD duo (Francesca Havelock & Ella Hedigan-Dattner) was born out of a shared love for improvisation and sonic exploration.

The duo combines synthetic drums inspired by early downtempo and ambient electronica, spoken word poetry and the acoustic, dreamlike textures of the harp to produce immersive soundscapes that oscillate between so-called “genres”.

Their sound aims to create tension between structure and spontaneity, each performance is unique and exists only on one occasion. Anchored by constantly evolving motifs and guided by instinct — the music ventures freely in all directions.
