Before Digger & The Pussycats head to Europe for an epic run of festival and club shows, they say goodbye to Melbourne with a Matinee show at The Gem on Saturday May 10th. Along for the ride are new upstarts Howl and direct from Japan, MMM. Free Entry 4pm. All welcome. Lets see if the new Gem stage will survive the afternoon?
Creature Fear have returned with their first new music of 2025 - the quirky and existential ‘My Girl’s A Dream But She Only Loves Jesus’. The new track arrives alongside the announcement of a single launch show at Melbourne’s Gem Bar on May 10. Featuring the Naarm outfit’s quintessential retro-pop-meets-garage-rock sound, songwriter and vocalist Cameron Graham reveals the single draws inspiration from 80s new wave acts such as XTC, Talking Heads, and Elvis Costello. “Lyrically, it’s a cheeky character-driven song which expresses the feelings of nothing making sense, everything being chaotically random, and the experience of falling into an existential crisis,” says Cameron. “It explores religion, life and love - and although this all sounds super deep, it’s an uplifting kooky song that tries to celebrate life’s absurdity.” ‘ My Girl’s A Dream But She Only Loves Jesus’ was produced, engineered and mixed by Julian Cue (Gut Health / screensaver), and mastered by Adam Dempsey of Deluxe Mastering (Angie McMahon / Courtney Barnett).
