This time at the Guild:
Dusty Sessions is all about bringing blues, folk and soul music together for an intimate evening of self-expression.
Welcome to Dusty Sessions Volume 7!
We are extremely excited to be back at Bar 303 in Northcote, on our favorite fairy-light strewn stage, with another stellar line-up of Melbourne talent.
We acknowledge that this event will be taking place on stolen land, and pay respects to the traditional custodians; the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation. Sovereignty was never ceded, and we still have a long way to go to make equality our reality. Part of every ticket sold to this event will be donated to the Pay The Rent organisation in Victoria, that runs community projects and offers aid to first nations people.
Possum is the solo project of Kizzy Davies, based in Naarm/Melbourne, Victoria. Skilfully shifting between cheeky and poignant, Possum's intricate and evocative songwriting is consistently full of love for the stories it tells. Combined with traditional Australian folk song covers, her music captures a snapshot of Australia that threads cultural narratives through time and place; from the historical to a surreal present.
Ancient Animal Orchestra (duo) -
Ancient Animal Orchestra transports audiences beyond their immediate surroundings and immerses them in a blend of blissful music and storytelling, all in their bid to expand the realms of folk and improvised genres. 2019 saw the release of their debut album, 'Retreat', and in 2020 they put out Fairhaven’, an EP featuring improvised music recorded in a living room along the Great Ocean Road. 2021 saw a performance at MONA and the beginnings of their next release taking shape in the studio. Daniel and Jordan are excited to share a one-off duo performance of atmospheric folk music as part of this installment of Dusty Sessions.
Zoe Scott -
Zoe Scott is an award-winning vocalist, Fresh to Melbourne from Waiheke Island, New Zealand. From her set, you can expect brutally honest songwriting and emotional vulnerability that’ll leave you in a puddle of tears or bubbling with anger.
