Damien Ellis Trio

Hailing from Wagga Wagga—the town so nice they named it twice— Damien whittled his drumsticks in the smoky glow of New York's underground jazz joints.

Now a regular at the Melbourne International and Wangaratta Jazz Festivals, Damien took home the title of Australia’s Best Up and Coming Drummer in 2009 and has never looked back.

His hard-swinging approach, fused with a deep appreciation of various genres, conjures a heady blend of tightrope spontaneity and the delicately refined.

Teaming up with guitarist James Sherlock and bassist Jordan Tarento, this trio blends the timeless with the cutting edge, transporting listeners to the era of hard bop jazz and beyond.
