The Coburg High School Instrumental Music department are pleased to present “Jazz in the Afternoon”. Join us for an afternoon of vibrant live music, featuring performances from our Senior and Junior Jazz Bands, along with selected student soloists accompanied by our Faculty Band.

Since its inception in 2017, Jazz in the Afternoon has offered students a unique opportunity to prepare and perform jazz repertoire in a professional setting. We look forward to sharing this special event with our school community and celebrating the talents of our student musicians.

Fresh from his studies at the prestigious Herbie Hancock Institute (formerly the Thelonious Monk Institute), where he studied under the mentorship of celebrated trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire, drummer, composer and bandleader Ebs Daramola returns with a sound shaped by a deep openness to diverse musical traditions. Having performed with renowned artists such as Herbie Hancock, James Morrison, Logan Richardson, David Binney, and Harish Raghavan, Ebs brings a wealth of global experience and a bold artistic voice to the stage. He will be joined by Anton Schultz (double bass), Grant Windsor (piano), Max Bruten (guitar), and Jayden Blockley (tenor saxophone) to perform Ebs’ originals. This performance marks a significant new chapter as he makes his hometown debut before his debut album is released in March 2026. Expect an evening of emotionally resonant music from one of Australia’s most dynamic emerging voices.
