Tenor saxophonist, composer, arranger and educator Mirko Guerrini’s move to Melbourne from Italy has greatly enriched the local scene over the past decade. He toured back to Italy a few months ago, with performances including the Umbria Jazz Festival. For this concert, he expands on a project that he initiated in 2009 in Italy, called Cirko Guerrini (Circo in Italian means circus – pun intended).

All the music that is presented is originally written by Mirko Guerrini, who takes the spectator on an imaginative journey, where only the music accompanying the circus numbers is heard, leaving the actual visual of the number to the fantasy of the listener.
