DOORS 7PM // FREE ENTRY // SHOW STARTS 8PM
It's been a long road for Chelsea Reed to release new music under her own
name. Since her self-titled album; she's moved country twice, fallen in
love, gotten married, and toured Australia in an indie-pop band. Now she is
returning to her piano-led roots with the release of her new song
"Dominic".
Written in the aftermath of a frustrating conversation with a
friend; Chelsea has channelled the incisive songwriting of popular 90's
artists such as Ben Folds & Aimee Mann. Chelsea says that the song is
dedicated to anyone "who has a tendency to blame everyone and everything
for their problems." Working with producer & musician Dave Jenkins Jr.
(Vera Blue, Daniel Johns); this new era of Chelsea Reed wouldn't sound out
of place between EL0 & Harry Nilsson in your parent's record collection.
Born in Sydney and raised in Newcastle, Australia, Chelsea was living and
working in Canada in 2017 when she recorded her self-titled debut album
with Dave Draves (Kathleen Edwards, Caitlin Harnett) in Ottawa, Ontario. It
was here that she met David Macmichael; together they formed the indie
garage-pop duo The Tryouts who toured across Australia and Canada -
including a songwriting stop in LA. The pair worked with Jack Moffitt (The
Preatures, Johnny Hunter) on their Debut EP 'Nothing Bad Is Ever Going To
Happen'.
Chelsea's latest single Loop is set for release this month, and an
EP is in the works for early 2025.
