Charlie Needs Braces are a live looping act made up of GuriNgai sisters Charlie and Miri. They have drawn in audiences across Australia with their energetic musical landscapes weaving together stories and language. In 2022 they came first place in the Upstart Awards, and won the Archie Roach Award for Emerging Talent in 2023 through Music Victoria Awards. Their latest album, NYAA WA, has further expanded their reach, with music videos landing in the top 50 for 2024 on Rage.
Charlie Needs Braces are no strangers to All Ages events, having performed at many Family Jams Events, Rock A Bye Baby, Bundoora Beats, Oopsie Daisy, Woodford, Folk Rhythm & Life, and supported Riot Baby at their All Ages single launch at Northcote Uniting Hall this November.
Fun, engaging, and full of energy, Charlie Needs Braces bring a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere to every stage.
Jazz manouche, hot swing, hot jazz, gypsy jazz, gypsy swing - whatever you call it, we love it and we want to play it. Enzo and Paul from La Mauvaise Réputation are getting together with Les Gyori on violin and Ryan Griffith on guitar to explore the genius of Django Reinhardt, Stéphane Grappelli and the Quintette du Hot Club de France.
Performed with high energy and virtuosic talent, the wild rhythms and passion of 1930s Parisian hot jazz are a thing to behold. Add a light sprinkling of the beautiful melodies of classic French chanson - sung en français bien sûr - and you have a night to remember. Come along to our first performance at the Edinburgh Castle for 2 sets of the hottest of hot jazz from 8pm on Saturday 7 March. www.frenchgypsyjazz.com
