Emerging out of the bedroom of multi-disciplinary artist and musician Mayzie Wallen, Cerine Ruby is a new local cassette label from naarm/Melbourne.
Releasing quarterly mixtapes (the “salt tapes”), Cerine Ruby aims to contribute to a new sustainable vision for local music – one that supports emerging talent, celebrates the local music scene, and provides opportunities to the next generation of artists.
Over five Sundays in October (Oct 1-29), Cerine Ruby are hosting a showcase series at Whole Lotta Love bar in Brunswick.
The series will feature line-ups headlined by label affiliates Vital Sparks, Ally Mac, Kite Vendor, and Sorry, Dave, supported by the many talented artists on the roster.
From the indie pop of Oceans and the energetic post-punk of Passat Act to the noisy brilliance of Vital Sparks and Ally Mac; from ground-breaking singer-songwriters like Roo Davies and Gordon Holland among others.
