Now based in Paris, Australian pianist Daniel Gassin returns to Melbourne to perform for one night only at the Paris Cat with the Cam McAllister Sextet.
Before relocating to Paris in 2013, Daniel garnered both local and international acclaim as a finalist in the jazz solo piano competition at the iconic Montreaux Jazz Festival in 2007, placing in the top 3 at the Wangaratta Jazz Festival piano competition in 2013 as well as being nominated for the Freedman Fellowship in 2016. Notably, Daniel was also the first ever pianist to perform in Quincy Jones’ new jazz club in Dubai called Q’s, inaugurating the venue and playing over 20 shows there across 5 weeks.
For this special performance, Daniel teams up with long time friend and musical collaborator, trumpet player Cam McAllister.
After living and working in Sydney for 11 years Cam has recently returned to his hometown Melbourne where he works as a freelance trumpet player, composer and arranger.
Together they will be joined by a stellar band, all of whom are long term friends, performing a mixture of their own original compositions as well as arrangements of songs they like.
