Bohjass upas militia (BUM) is the big band version of tim pledger's mighty bohjass. this is the lead up show to the brilliant new studio album 'into the low rents/compassion' which is being launched in december 2023. this is the 3rd BUM album following 'derriere, pourquia' in 2002 which was launched at bar open where john perring said it was the loudest thing he'd ever heard. the second album 'beneath the nightless sky' was launched in 2013 at the NSC and the band played the falls fest that year. described by andy hazel as an 'explorchestra of jazz-funk-psych minimalism' where 'the band leaps from killer blaxploitation funk and delicate minimalism to Sun Ra freakouts in the tight constraints of a song-length piece, this is a fascinating, unique band and a blast of a show'.
