Billionaires should run the government – 21st Annual Green Left Comedy Debate

The hilarious 21st annual Green Left Comedy Debate is taking place on Saturday 9 August at 6.30pm at Brunswick Town Hall.

Tom Ballard, well known for his particular brand of politically-driven stand-up comedy, will be the master of ceremonies and judge of the two teams of comedians who are set to debate whether billionaires should run the government.

In the era of US President Donald Trump, one could be forgiven for thinking that satire is dead.

But when the ridiculous becomes reality, all we can do is laugh or cry. Laughter at those in positions of power gives us some power back, as well as keeping us sane.

While there may be sound reasons to support the argument that billionaires are better suited to run the government, the team arguing the negative have plenty of examples of the opposite.

It is not clear how the teams will spin their arguments, but it is guaranteed to be a laugh-filled evening.

Hosted by Master of Ceremonies Tom Ballard and featuring comedians:

• Helchild

• Nicky Barry

• Shiralee Hood

• Rose Callaghan

• Sarah Bartolo

• David Fowles
