Bill Kirchen continues his love affair with Australia, returning to play at MEMO Music Hall for a ONE-OFF Melbourne Show with special guests Suzannah Espie and Sarah Carroll.
Bill Kirchen is best known for his work in the late 60’s-early 70’s from the Cosmic Cowboy era with seminal band of that genre Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen. Responsible for hits such as Hot Rod Lincoln, Semi Truck and Seeds and Stems. Bill went on to have a solo career that has spanned 5 decades and is known as one of the founding fathers of “Twangcore”. Bill has won a swag of awards, is the self-titled “Kind of Dieselbilly” and was named “The Titan of the Telecaster” by Guitar Magazine. In recent years he has collaborated with the likes of Elvis Costello and Nick Lowe.
Due to Peter Baylor’s wife suffering a stroke, we have had to replace Benny and Baylor with Suzannah Espie and Sarah Carroll opening the night. They will be followed by Paulie Bignell (The Detonators) and The Thornbury Two featuring Paul De Marco (Rose Tattoo) on drums.
This show is a must see for any lover of roots music.
