Just one year ago, on a drive from Atlanta Georgia to Baton Rouge Louisiana, I found myself searching for Hank Williams resting place in Montgomery Alabama. As I stood there at Hank’s grave I felt the beginnings of a song. I thought about his great recordings. featuring just him and his guitar.

I thought, I need to record like that one day, stripped back and solo. Hank died on the way to a gig in the back seat of a 1952 blue Cadillac. He was 29. When I arrived back home, my friend James Van Cooper and I wrote the song 1952 Cadillac. It’s the opening/title track of my new solo album. The songs are pretty much about living, dying and the passing of time.
