Forming in 2013 to recapture past glories they never actually had and aptly-named, The Deadbeat Dads very slowly became one of the best bands if not in Melbourne, then at least in the spare bedroom in which the four-piece practised when they could be bothered (which, they’ll admit themselves, wasn’t as often as it should have been).

Featuring Clint Murrell on vocals, Simon Francis on guitar, Brett Foley on bass, and Michael Baker on drums, The Deadbeat Dads – playing covers from the ’90s mainly because it matches their clothes – recently lit up the inaugural Bakerpalooza in May 2023. With Murrell remembering most of the lyrics and Baker barely missing a beat, the backyard mega-concert thrilled an audience suffering from a kind of Stockholm Syndrome. It also scared neighbourhood dogs, stunned possums and annoyed a few neighbours too, who unlike the band’s loyal and generous fans, simply couldn’t appreciate The Deadbeat Dad’s distinctive sound.

Answering demands from absolutely no-one, The Deadbeat Dads are now set to plug in their amps for the third time in 2024 when Bakerpalooza returns – this time at Brunswick’s premier live music venue, the Bergy Seltzer. Supported by local bands APO and Wicked Sister, the latter criminally low on the bill, The Deadbeat Dads will rock the place to its foundations and once again will make up for in passion and enthusiasm what they lack in ability. A gig not to be missed."

Captives are finishing strong in 2023 with the launch of their latest single 'Oblivion' and the announcement of some special 10 year anniversary shows in early 2024.

Fresh from returning home after a huge 2023 of touring overseas, The 10 year anniversary tour will see Captives hit some of their favourite venues from across the journey with old and new friends in support.

“We weren’t going to do anything for our ten years together, but a friend of ours talked us into it. So it’s exciting to launch new music and hit the road where it all started. It’s been a journey, with members coming and going, everyone has contributed to the sound and story in some way. We’ve made so many memories, friends, fans from Captives, so we are lucky to still be doing this."
Aaron Damon (Vocals)

"Ten years ago we recorded our first EP and it generated some cool opportunities for us. We ended up moving our lives from Tasmania to Melbourne and I guess we just never stopped touring and putting out music."
Matthew Damon (Drums)
