Backyard Stories is born from a passion for storytelling. It is an event which creates a space for both established and novice storytellers to respond to a pre-selected prompt in the form of a short story. This is then performed in front of an engaging crowd, in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.

The stories are as relatable as they are unique - and range from the funny and dramatic to the heartfelt and intimate. Backyard Stories is a platform to share, listen and engage. Anyone and everyone is invited - to write, perform, attend or listen. From our origins in 2019, squeezing friends and friends of friends into a Melbourne backyard, surviving a pandemic through podcast format, Backyard Stories has evolved.

After shows in New York City, Amsterdam and London, Backyard Stories has returned home to the Brunswick Artists Bar.
