The journey for Melbourne’s hot new acid-jazz collective continues in August, where AstroVillian’s enigmatic movement of funk-fusion navigates a wildly mystical landscape of ambience and generates an inter-galactic chill of psychedelic vibrations. After releasing their first two singles and revealing their live performace in June, AstroVillain will be bringing the space vibes to the Gasometer alongside the neo-soul of 6-piece outfit “Cofi” and the future jazz rhythm section of “Beatnik”.

Melbourne post-rock jazz band Soft Power return with new single and video ‘Counting Sheep’ from their upcoming 3rd album. An understated groove that balances woozy guitar sounds with gestural drums and bass – Soft Power explores post-rock jazz with distinctive songwriting by guitarist Matthew Roche that draws on Australiana, 70’s prog-rock, jazz and folk music.

Since the release of “Easy Listening” (Newmarket Music 2018) and “A Breath Is Like a Swinging Door” (Independent 2017), Soft Power have transfixed audiences nationally with their down tempo jazz grooves and meditative improvisations. Featuring Oscar Neyland on double bass and Christopher Cameron on drums, with album launches in Melbourne, Sydney and a performance at MONA already under their belt, Soft Power are ready to stride into 2019 with their own quiet revolution.
