Celebrating Global political dance and revolutionary music. Naarm based dancers Tina De Melo, Miiss Lora, Jafra Dabke, Laila Shouha, and Mind Over Mutant will converge to exchange movement on the dance floor, to heavy bass and melodic rhythms selected by local and interstate DJ's Antagonize, Sadiva, and Lisa Chrome (NSW). Repping Street and Cultural dance forms from East Timorese dance to Krump, Dabke to Dancehall. This revolution will not be televised but it will be taking place with some fancy footwork, hypnotic hip gyrations, and you are all invited to get down and be part of the Movement on Wednesday 20th May 6pm - 11pm at Section 8.
This event is the official launch of the Assemble project by Kim Summer and Cat Sweeney. We are currently running a fundraising campaign to help raise the funds needed to help tell these stories of dance, music and resistance.
