Award-winning pianist and composer Ania Reynolds launches her second solo piano album Além at Open Studio on Wednesday November 29th, 7:30pm.

Além (‘Beyond’ in Portuguese) is a collection of colourful sonic portraits of places, people, moments and even vegetables encountered during Ania’s travels in Brazil and Cuba. Ania draws on her extensive career as a soundtrack composer for circus, dance, theatre and film to create an album that traverses jazz, contemporary classical and cinematic genres with influences from Brazilian and Cuban music including son montuno, choro and Bossa Nova.

This concert will feature a full performance of the album, including the stories of the inspiration behind each of the compositions. This will be followed by a second set of brand new music from Ania’s recent travels in the south of France, once again inspired by the local surroundings - come and hear songs about nectarines, country roads and wind farms, and find out all about the Tractor Factor….
