Join some of Naarm’s finest weirdos this easter long weekend for (Hey! Hey! It’s) a Saturday Matinee! Taking place at one of the city’s most iconic dive bars and music venues Last Chance Rock ’n’ Roll Bar. It’s a perfectly sensible start time of 2:30pm and the price is absolutely right. (It’s FREE ENTRY!!).

Headlining the show is Perth raised enigmatic songwriter, guitar-slinger and button pusher Alex Elbery. Drawing influences from the likes of The Clash, Cyndi Lauper and Paul Kelly, Alex and his band put on an electrifying live show underpinned by his heart-string-plucking, humorous and catchy songs.

Cranes Against Clouds is an indie rock group that started in 2013. With a distinctive blend of raw energetic rock and sweet harmonies, Cranes Against Clouds can be likened to bands like The Cranberries, Magic Dirt and Alanis Morrissette, with songs so robust you can bounce them off a brick wall.

Also on the bill are newcomers Overthinker. Fronted by long time listener, first time caller Sam Van Munnen and touting a line up of the city’s most talented and most seasoned players (Including members of the Lazy Susans, Turn South and Damaged Goods Club.) Overthinkers songs are beautiful snapshots of suburban heartache, sociological frustration and weighty friendship, all brought to life by their rollicking folk pop performance.

Opening the show is everybody’s favourite carnie-cowboy Jim Dusty. Leaving the rodeo behind to join us Solo with his unique brand of alt-folk and songs of existential heartache.
