We live in fast times. You’re busy, you work hard, you’re always on call… wouldn’t it be nice to pump the brakes and switch off? As the years go on and time becomes ever fleeting, we’d forgive you for not taking the time for yourself. It’s in these moments when we realise what we’ve taken for granted: the depth of a fine wine, the smell of jasmine in spring or the nasal whistle of a coworker beside you. SLOW IT DOWN, BABY is a chance for you to take a load off, leave your worries at the door and SLOW DOWN We know you’ve earned it.

Ethereal visuals, ambient soundscapes and shoe-gaze undercurrents form the backdrop to the tunes of PRETTY BLEAK, whose compositional elements find their genesis in pop and emo.

Fresh off the back of BIGSOUND 2023, PRETTY BLEAK will hit the Gaso Upstairs to celebrate the release of their latest single ‘do you feel the same ?’. The last 12 months has seen the band on the lineup of Great Escape Festival 2023 alongside G Flip, Gretta Ray, and Eliza & The Delusionals, support the likes of BUGS, Towns, and Teenage Joans, as well as play the official Good Things kick-off party.

Working with producers spanning Melbourne, Los Angeles and New York, the band has developed a succession of singles set to serve as a soundtrack to the ‘20s. Drawing inspiration from the punk energy of Nirvana and dark pop of The Cure, PRETTY BLEAK showcase their take on 21st-century pop.
