Ben Campkin is Professor of Urban History and Urbanism at UCL, and joins Hamish and Sam to discuss his new book Queer Premises - LGBTQ+ Venues in London since the 1980s. The trio chat about the book's contents: the various kinds of queer venues in London including community centres, bars, nightclubs, and more, and looks at the ways those venues are tied to social history, social movements, fights for LGBTQ+ rights, and its relationship with the economy and businesses. They discuss how these social movements and venues also have international connectivity, recognising that queer struggle is global.
