Banksia: Mitch Mahoney on creative practice and My Country exhibition at the NGV

Boon Wurrung, Barkindji artist Mitch Mahoney joined Vanessa Morris on Banksia to talk about their work through the Country Road + NGV First Nations Commissions: My Country exhibition.

Mentored by, and working closly with his Aunty Maree Clarke over 16 months, Mitch spoke about his pieces, which include a possum skin cloak and two canoes, reflect his connection to Boon Wurrung country, Barkindji country and with Maree.

Developed as part of a national, biennial mentorship and exhibition program pairing emerging artists with esteemed industry mentors from each state and territory across Australia where artists are invited to produce their most ambitious work to date and respond to the theme 'My Country'.

My Country is at the Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia, Fed Square until 4 August
