Tony Allen was integral in the development of the afrobeat during the formative years of Fela Kuti’s Africa ’70 band. He went on to release ground-breaking solo and collaborative albums for the next 40 years that helped cement afrobeat as a worldwide genre, and made him an international drumming icon.

This concert celebrates this body of work with songs from selected eras going back to his ’70s material. Percussionist and producer Zhonu ‘Nui’ Moon will also be debuting unreleased collaborations at this performance.

Nui has assembled a powerhouse of performers, including drummer Ben Walsh, members of the Public Opinion Afro Orchestra, and pianist John McCall. Guest vocalists Thando, NFA Jones and Cazeaux O.S.L.O. and DJ Manchild will all be making an appearance.
