In the summer of 2018, two teens with big dreams emerged from the outer northern suburbs of Melbourne. Realising they could make music better together, Laura and Hayley formed nightlight, creating sweet synth-pop rap that is good for the soul.
The duo have established themselves as producers and performers to be reckoned with, creating a genre-bending blend of lush, dark and danceable music. The young guns have taken inspiration from acts as far apart as MGMT and Little Simz to weave together tunes that sound closer to Mallrat, and make you want to dance. nightlight’s sonic sound can be traced back to their roots, from synth-laden pop to bouncy hip-hop beats.
