"Tarab" is a new band in Melbourne dedicated to classical Arabic music. It is made up of six experienced musicians from Syria, Armenia, Palestine and Lebanon who now call Melbourne their home. While we are from Levantine region, our music is mostly classical Egyptian (some date back to 1940s) reflecting the diversity and richness of the Arab world's culture and beauty through Tarab music (a word in Arabic that has no English translation, which roughly means: ecstasy).
