Melbourne’s very own southern boogie lords Sweet Talk are whiskey bent on one thing, and one thing only – to play rollicking “good time” music to the masses! In fact, they’ll be doing exactly that on the hallowed stage of Cherry Bar Melbourne, for their first ever headlining show on July 9th.
Already renowned for their high-energy live shows – readily whipping unsuspecting punters into frenzied states of boogie and unabashed song at the drop of a cowboy hat – the band recently doubled down on their ethos to record their first release completely live to tape. All in the same room. Let it bleed.
A recent quip from an upcoming documentary on the band by guitarist Soren Walker might best sum up their approach – “Sometimes when you’re not hearing it, you’ve gotta do it yourself”. Sweet Talk seem to have done exactly that, stitching together a rich tapestry of vintage influence into something altogether their own. It’d definitely time to let the good times roll
