STEVE LUCAS & THE RISING TIDE play the blues in its many shades and forms. Tortured torch songs, dark and menacing tunes, throw in a bit of New Orleans and you are getting warm. Add to the mix a mix of well chosen covers from Chicago shuffles to the pounding rhythms of classic rock and roll and you have the full swell of THE RISING TIDE.
STEVE LUCAS. A FOUNDING MEMBER OF THE LEGENDARY BAND, X, AND FRONTMAN FOR THE METAL MAYHEM OF BIGGER THAN JESUS ARE JUST TWO OF THE BANDS LUCAS HAS BLUDGEONED PUNTERS WITH OVER THE YEARS.
These days he is a little more restrained. 5 or 6 years of playing the blues with THE HEINOUS HOUNDS (a band he put together on a whim featuring the inestimable talents of Chris Wilson, As Davies, Jerome Smith and Matt Dwyer) has been a huge influence on who he is today. The Hounds carved out a reputation of being one of the best blues/rock and roll bands that Melbourne had to offer.
While not turning his back on the classic covers rendered by THE HOUNDS, he has picked up the pen and started writing again. The results are to be released later this year on vinyl, CD as well as streaming platforms. Somehow during the lockdowns of 2021 , he managed to put together a new band featuring some ‘satellite’ members of the HEINOUSHOUNDS and record an L.P. of original tunes.
The core band s consisting of Steve Lucas – guitar and vocals, Pete Mavric – double bass, Peter Robertson – brushes, Bruce Haymes – piano and Dave Hogan – vocals and harmonica. Lucas also brought in the HORNS OF LEROY on 4 of the tracks, and has plans to do bigger shows with them once the album is released.
