Steve Balbi returns to Melbourne for one night only – exclusive to The Fyrefly – to launch his new single, ‘Every Living Thing’.

Shining a little ray o’ sunshine upon the evening are very special guests Jak Housden (Tim Minchin, The Whitlams, The Badloves), who will showcase songs from his very own forthcoming solo LP, and Melbourne's most formidable frontwoman, the amazing Fiona Lee Maynard, who will bring a collection of newly-penned solo tunes to round out a spine-tingling evening of music at The Fyrefly.

Affirming sentimentality, sunshine and soul, Balbi promises an evening of myth, music and verse, accompanied by the exquisite guitar and dulcet tones of Jak Housden. Intimate and acoustic, the creative chameleon has curated a unique set of songs and stories that transcend a career spanning more than three decades, including new material from the forthcoming LP alongside reimagined out-takes revived from his lasting catalogue of cultural fair.

The new single, ‘Every Living Thing’, marks an enlightened variance in melody and rhythm from the dirty rotten groove of ‘Modern Love’. A song about hope, ‘Every Living Thing’ is an ode to courage, friendship, temperance, pride, fairness, honour, laughter, and magnificence, a song that we can sing… so that children can live and be.

Navigating a wistful path from melancholy through madness, the launch of ‘Every Living Thing’ at The Fyrefly on Saturday 27 July promises to be a remarkable evening; few and far between, this show is one not to be missed.
