ABOUT THE ARTIST

Cantrips is the studio project of Melbourne multi-instrumentalist Patrick Ryan, combining Californian Surf Groove with elements of 60s Psychedelia and Italian Cinematic Music.

Between 2017-2019, Ryan toured and gigged extensively as guitarist for Psych-Rock band Sofala, as well as vocalist for his own self-titled project. Throughout this process, a deeper love for audio and recording techniques of a by-gone era blossomed into an obsession, which saw him take to building his own studio. Recorded in a dusty garage in Thornbury through a crusty 80s mixing console, Cantrips is built around a celebration of home recorded, microphone captured sounds.
