Sikander is a Melbourne-based live outfit blending contemporary electronics with sitar, saxophone, and vocals,
into a groove-laden sonic spread. Drawing influences from diverse genres and musical traditions ranging from Dubby analogue-era Rave and digital-age Bass cultures, psychedelic funk, Jazzleftfield Bollywood, and African polyrhythms,
the band’s sound can be described as post-world music – electronic re-interpretations of ancient ethnic rhythms and melodies for a digital-era dancefloor. The three blokes cooking the sounds are Pradip Sarkar aka Docta Deep on beats and percussion, Jeremy Malcomson on electric sitar and guitar, Neil Cook aka Nifty on sax, synthesizer and vocals.
