Come and Rally for Native Forests Saturday August 12th 11am at Parliament House... if you love the forest and don't want our wild places destroyed by mining and logging.

The Bob Brown Foundation and friends are campaigning and lobbying the government to end native forest logging with their 3 days for the forest ending with rallies in major cities across Australia on 12th Aug: https://defendthegiants.org/events/

What you can expect at the rally? A peaceful and fun way to both show your support for ending native forest logging and also celebrate our native forests with like minded people. There will be speeches, singing, a picnic and bands to really have a forest hoe down!

The Labor Party’s National Conference is on August 19 so a successful rally will put pressure on the Labor Party to implement stronger forest protections and regeneration programs at a federal level.

Whilst the Victorian Government has said native forest logging will end at the start of next year there are concerning loopholes for The Otways, Wombat Forest and Cobbobboonee Forests.

When we save forests, we save critical ecosystems and maintain forests’ role as ‘carbon sinks’ that are essential to climate change mitigation.

Native forests are at risk all across the country and have been logged for far too long.

This has resulted in native wildlife like the Koala becoming at risk of extinction. It has also exacerbated natural disasters like bushfires.

We can’t save the planet from climate change without forests. Our state and federal governments need to protect them now.

LET'S END NATIVE FOREST LOGGING NATIONALLY NOW!
