CD Launch for the late Congolese musician Passi Jo with his award-winning band Warako Musica! Sadly, Passi Jo passed away from cancer in November 2016, and did not live to see the completion of his debut Australian music release, Tosepela Esengo, a Lingala term (Passi Jo’s original language in Republic of Congo/DRC) meaning, ‘be happy, enjoy yourself’, which of course is the ethos of the CD!

The Seben Brothers, an African/Australian dance band that includes some former members of Warako Musica, will play a highly danceable set of Congolese Rumba and Soukous including a number of tracks from the CD, along with the Bolingo Choir – again, another Lingala word which translates to love, so it could easily be referred to as ‘the choir of love’ – in keeping with Passi Jo’s eternal love of music and the voice. Special guests will weave in and out of the afternoon’s entertainment. Jill Morgan, former CEO of Multicultural Arts Victoria, will be MC for the afternoon.

Free entry, with CDs available on the day. Support local music, feel the joy and dance, dance, dance!
