Sydney noise band Party Dozen are bringing their intense and chaotic live show to Melbourne for the first time since 2019.
Comprising Kirsty Tickle (saxophone) and Jonathan Boulet (percussion, sampler), Party Dozen shows are trials of physicality, containing elements of punk, free jazz, skronk and no-wave. They have previously toured and played shows with LIARS, Tropical Fuck Storm and Viagra Boys.
In May 2020 they released the celebrated Pray For Party Dozen, a record which prompted Henry Rollins to describe them as "just the coolest band", scored a nomination at the AIR Awards and had tracks remixed by both Mogwai and Peaking Lights. COVID ruined all three attempts to do a Melbourne launch show, so this will serve both as that and as a preview of 2022's upcoming new music, which includes a single on legendary Seattle label Sub Pop.
