Hot on the heels of his 2nd solo release (Note to Self /ep) Thursday May 5th sees the return of local singer-songmaker Murray Johnstone to the Brunswick Artists Bar.

On a self-imposed break from “playing in bands and having haircuts”, performing solo is where Johnstone’s talent for writing the kind of songs that create a special kind of intimacy and aural imagery shines.

Backed by live & looped guitar & six string bass, Johnstone has a deep well of material to draw from, playing latest tracks (also released under band moniker-Bermuda Shades) and choice cuts from his time fronting alt rock and rollabilly Brisbane-based outfits, 52 Pickups & Crystal Radios.

This night is set to be full of glorious prose & promise with the cinematically suggestive sounds of Holy Oral Recital (a duo featuring members of Melbourne band Faun Haus) gracing the BAB stage for the earlier 8:30pm slot. Be there!
