This special concert is a celebration of the 83rd birthday and ongoing career of the highly regarded pianist/composer/educator Dr. Tony Gould.

Gould is possibly the most formally ‘recognised’ figure to work in the Australian jazz scene (although he refers to his music as “post-jazz”), with an Australia Council Fellowship, the Don Banks Fellowship in 2009, as well as an Order of Australia, plus the 2011 Australian Jazz Award “Hall of Fame”.

For this occasion, he is joined by long-time colleagues Ben Robertson (double bass) and Tony Floyd (drums) to play two sets with different combinations of guests, who include Angela Davis (alto saxophone), Michelle Nicolle (vocals) and Carl Mackey (tenor saxophone), as well as the masterful veteran John Hoffman (trumpet and flugelhorn), who is based in northern N.S.W.

Gould will also launch his new book, “A Ramble on Humour and Music”.
