For those striving to get close to making a work of musical art, it can be about connecting to audiences’ in the most simplest of ways; the ‘no bells & whistles’ approach of music-making; lyrics, voice, and one instrument. It is a lifelong pursuit for the dedicated songsmith, a road on which the creative horizon seems close one day, and yet so far the next. There is an intense yearning; to touch the feeling of ‘arrival’ at the hallowed ground of songwriting mastery. Songwriter Sessions showcases a moment in that journey for 4 writers; all of whom are toiling to get inside the heartbeat of their own songs, and sharing this deeper understanding with audiences’.

EARNEST JACKSON is the infectious and energetic alternative hip hop project from 20-year-old Jackson Hurwood.

From the inner suburbs of Melbourne - Earnest Jackson’s catchy hooks and intricate lyrical trickery will inevitably have you dancing. Earnest’s songs are sometimes playful and cheeky, other times thoughtful and hard-hitting, but always energetic and delivered at maximum power. Earnest’s band, consisting of drums (Soren Maryasin) and saxophone (Lochie Thompson), is playfully unusual and equally energetic. Earnest’s influences include: Childish Gambino, Tyler the Creator, James Blake, Rejjie Snow and Duckwrth so if any of those artists are your jam this is the gig worth coming to in March.
