From an Army baby in Germany, back to his home town in sunny Inverkeithing, then on to the cultural mecca that is Victorias Sth Eastern suburbs. Mal has done some travelling and living in his time. As a sideman he has played bass for many Blues and Roots acts in the Melbourne scene. However, the last few years have been focused on his blend of Folk/Blues/Country songwriting. This is his first solo gig at the Poet.

Frank Jones is the songwriter and singer from the legendary Whirling Furphies, a multi-award-winning writer and ARIA nominee. As well as penning Melbourne’s iconic anthem, “My Brown Yarra”, one of the great songs about our place Naarm (Melbourne), Frank’s lifetime of cross-genre songwriting includes five outstanding albums of his own and a multitude of songs written for and co-written with other artists. Frank will be joined on the night by guitarist Shane Ryall.
