‘You Were Just a Building’, the sophomore EP from Kill the Darling, heralds a grittier new direction for the Melbourne-based quartet, while remaining faithful to their folk influences.
With a grungier sonic vocabulary of overdriven, knotted guitars and a driving rhythm section the four-track EP was written as a song cycle. It chronicles the end of a long-distance relationship, and explores the process of reconstruction that follows a decision to leave both a city and a lover.
